2027 Washington Evaluators Board Election  Nominations

This fall, three elected positions on the WE Board of Directors are open for election:  President-Elect, Treasurer, and Secretary.  Current WE members are invited to vote beginning on October 16th through the link emailed to you.  The ballot will remain open until November 10th.  The candidates are listed below:

President-Elect:

  • Chandria Jones

My name is Chandria Jones. As a Principal Research Scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago, I lead complex evaluations focused on health equity, behavioral health, community engagement, and systems change, grounded in culturally responsive, equitable, and participatory approaches.

I am equally committed to strengthening our evaluation community. I am an ATE Evaluation Fellow and CREA Affiliate, mentor emerging evaluators, provide evaluation training and technical assistance, and present nationally and internationally. I also co-edited Culturally Responsive and Equitable Evaluation: Visions and Voices of Emerging Scholars, reflecting my commitment advancing the evaluation field.

Washington Evaluators, however, is where I have had the opportunity to put that commitment into practice locally. As Membership Committee Chair and former Community Engagement Committee Chair, I have worked alongside our Board and volunteers to strengthen member engagement, create opportunities for connection, and build a greater sense of community.

My nonprofit board and volunteer leadership has also given me practical experience with governance, strategic planning, fundraising, board development, and organizational sustainability.  If elected, I would bring to the Board not only my evaluation expertise, but a collaborative leadership style, willingness to do the work, and genuine commitment to helping Washington Evaluators, and the people who make it special, thrive.

Treasurer:

  • Angeline Spain

My name in Angeline Spain.  My work has spanned health, education, and community and economic development, with a consistent focus on helping organizations use evidence to strengthen programs, inform decisions, and understand their impact. Throughout my career, I have also managed budgets for evaluation and technical assistance projects, overseeing project resources and deliverables. I currently serve as Evaluation and Research Lead Manager at The Steve Fund, where I lead the development of organization-wide approaches to impact measurement, evaluation, and learning.

I

have been an active member of Washington Evaluators for the past year and a half and value the organization as an important professional community for evaluators in our region and beyond. I have particularly enjoyed contributing to the Evaluation and AI Working Group and had the opportunity to present on applying a social science lens to AI evaluation last year.

I also bring volunteer leadership and financial stewardship experience, as I served a 2-year term as Assistant Treasurer and then Treasurer of the Ludlow-Taylor Elementary School PTO here in Washington, DC. That experience gave me practical familiarity with the financial oversight, accountability, and collaboration required of a volunteer board officer. If elected, I would welcome the opportunity to bring that experience and my commitment to the evaluation community to the Washington Evaluators Board.  Ultimately, I would want the Treasurer role to help the Board balance responsible stewardship with strategic investments in the programming, connections, and professional community at the heart of Washington Evaluators.

Secretary:

  • Tristi Nichols

My name in Tristi Nichols.   Washington Evaluators is an awesome platform for connecting and networking with all evaluators in the DMV area. Not only does this professional organization serve as a hub, but the camaraderie and community within WE is an anchor for many, and especially those who were subjected to DOGE in 2025 and subsequently lost their jobs (and identity).

For the past two years, I have served as Secretary of the Washington Evaluators Board of Directors. In that role, I have supported Board governance, programming, documentation, coordination, member communications, and WE activities, while gaining a strong understanding of how the Board employs SOPs to serve the evaluation community in the DMV. For example, I was part of the WE leadership which voted to temporarily reduce membership fees to respond to decreased income. I also helped WE programming to deepen its engagement in AI by introducing the CEO of AILYZE, which is an AI-powered platform designed for qualitative data collection and analysis. I also helped to build connections between WE and the Baltimore Area Evaluators.

If elected, I would like to help WE remain responsive to the evaluation community’s needs. My priorities would be to continue to strengthen the visibility of professional development opportunities for members and support future interactions with the Baltimore Area Evaluators. I would also like to create more pathways for members to become involved through Board service, committees, short-term volunteer opportunities, peer learning, and events.
