Oh the Places You Will Go! Fireside Chat with Esther & Kathryn

Led by the Washington Evaluators, August 4th 12:00pm-1:00pm ET

Event Description:

Join us on August 4, 2026, from 12:00–1:00 PM ET for a fireside chat exploring career pathways in the field of evaluation. This conversational session features two accomplished evaluators with distinct professional trajectories. Dr. Kathryn Newcomer is Director of the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at George Washington University, a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and a former President of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). Over her career, she has led evaluations and training for numerous federal agencies and nonprofit organizations and has held leadership roles with AEA and NASPAA. Dr. Esther Nolton is a research and evaluation strategist, facilitator, and coach with more than two decades of experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives and award-winning evaluations. Prior to her evaluation career, she was an established sports medicine clinician and researcher. She currently serves on the AEA Board as Member-at-Large and previously served as President of Washington Evaluators, and has taught research and evaluation courses over the last 15 years across eight institutions.

The discussion will center on each speaker's professional journey, reflections on lessons learned throughout their evaluation careers, and practical advice for evaluators at all career stages. The session will conclude with a live audience Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with both speakers.
